5.2/10

My stay at Shangri-La Sydney was a mixed experience. The amazing views of the Sydney Harbour were undoubtedly the highlight, but the overall service and room conditions left much to be desired. While the location was central and convenient, it fell short of the luxury standards I expected for such a premium rate.

Rooms
5.0
The rooms were spacious with amazing views, yet they felt outdated and lacked some amenities that I would expect from a high-end hotel.
Service
5.0
Customer service was hit or miss. While some staff were friendly and helpful, other interactions were disappointing, especially during check-in and room service.
Location
7.0
The hotel's location was fantastic, offering easy access to key attractions. However, the steep walk back from Circular Quay might be challenging for those with mobility issues.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were limited, and breakfast was below expectations for a 5-star hotel. The views from the dining area were wonderful, though.
Facilities
5.0
The fitness center and pool were decent, but I expected more from the facilities given the hotel's reputation. The overall maintenance felt lacking.

5.8/10

My stay at Shangri-La Sydney was a mixed bag. The views from my room were amazing, but the service was hit or miss, leaving me feeling a bit neglected. The facilities had potential but the room service left much to be desired, taking ages to arrive. Overall, I enjoyed the location and spaciousness of the room, though the hotel felt a bit dated and could use some sprucing up.

Rooms
7.0
I loved the spaciousness and the stunning views, especially from the Sydney Harbour Room. However, the decor felt pretty tired, and a makeover is definitely in order.
Service
6.0
While some staff were incredibly professional and helpful, I encountered others who were indifferent. The check-in experience was great, but check-out was kind of awkward as I felt ignored.
Location
9.0
The hotel is ideally situated near The Rocks and Circular Quay, making it easy to get around Sydney. However, the steep uphill walk back can be a hassle, especially for those not in the best shape.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were decent, but I found the prices pretty steep for what was offered. Breakfast choices felt limited, and I was left wanting more variety. Room service was a huge letdown, taking way too long.
Facilities
6.0
The fitness center's early access restrictions were frustrating. I also expected more from the amenities considering this is a five-star hotel. Nonetheless, the spacious ensuite was a highlight.

6.8/10

I had a mixed experience at Shangri-La Sydney. The location is fantastic, offering amazing views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. However, the service left something to be desired; I found it a bit chaotic at times. Overall, I would consider returning due to the lovely rooms and the really good dining options.

Rooms
10.0
My room was spacious, cozy, and beautifully laid out, featuring large windows with a stunning view over the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The bathroom was elegantly designed with high-quality fittings. I enjoyed the snacks from the mini bar and the really good fruit bowl in the room.
Service
7.0
While the staff were mostly friendly and professional, there were moments of confusion, especially regarding pool bookings and service in the restaurant. I did appreciate that they acknowledged my birthday with a complimentary champagne, which was a nice touch.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location in The Rocks is perfect for exploring major landmarks like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. It's very close to Circular Quay, making it easy to navigate around Sydney. Just be prepared for the steep walk back up to the hotel.
Dining
8.0
I found the dining experience to be quite good overall. The evening room service was really good, especially the classic Italian salad and the won ton soup. However, breakfast was a bit chaotic with the service slightly rushed and disorganized at times.
Facilities
8.0
The facilities, including the gym and pool, were great, though I didn't have time to fully explore them. Room service is pricey but well worth it for the quality of food and coffee.

6.8/10

I stayed at the Shangri-La Sydney for a special occasion, and while the views were absolutely amazing, the service fell short of expectations. The check-in process was chaotic, and I felt the room could use some updates. Dining options were a mixed bag, but overall, the location is fantastic for exploring the city. It was a nice experience, but I might look elsewhere next time.

Rooms
6.0
The room had amazing views of the Harbour Bridge, but it felt dated and cramped. The bath and shower were pretty small, which was a bummer for a splurge. I also noticed some cleanliness issues, like a grubby carpet.
Service
5.0
The service throughout my stay was hit or miss; while some staff were polite, I experienced long waits for assistance and lacked the personal touches you'd expect at a five-star hotel.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location couldn't be better—so close to The Rocks and Circular Quay, making it easy to explore. It felt great to be in the heart of everything and have such stunning views to boot.
Dining
6.0
Dining in the Blu Bar was a letdown; the service was slow, and even though the food was well-prepared, the prices felt steep for what was offered.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities like room service and valet parking were available, but I found the overall experience lacking—especially considering the hefty price tag. The lounge was also less inviting than I hoped.

5.4/10

My stay at Shangri-La Sydney was nice with amazing views, especially from our upgraded Presidential Suite. The service was generally helpful, though I did experience some delays with room service. The location is superb, being close to Circular Quay and other attractions, but the hotel could benefit from some modern updates in decor and amenities.

Rooms
10.0
Staying in the Presidential Suite was absolutely very nice, offering spacious areas and stunning views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. I also enjoyed a corner room on the 29th floor that had a peaceful water view.
Service
7.0
While the staff were friendly and helpful, room service was disappointing, taking over an hour to arrive. However, upon reaching out for help, they were quick to address other issues.
Location
10.0
The hotel's location is fantastic, within walking distance of Circular Quay, restaurants, and public transport. The views from my room were second to none, making it perfect for sightseeing.
Dining
8.0
The breakfast at Cafe Mix offered a decent variety, but I found it a bit pricey for what was available. The Altitude restaurant had an impressive view but the dinner menu felt overpriced for the quality.
Facilities
9.0
The hotel's gym and pool were great, and the welcome amenities were a nice touch, adding a bit of luxury to my experience.
